16-Year-Old Killed and Passerby Shot in North Minneapolis

Investigators are urgently processing evidence to identify those responsible for the shooting.

Overview

  • After shots were reported around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, officers found a 16-year-old with life-threatening wounds on the 1300 block of 18th Ave N who died at the scene.
  • A 44-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, drove to a gas station near Broadway and Knox Ave N for help, and was later taken to North Memorial Health.
  • Homicide investigators and MPD Forensic Scientists processed the scene and are collecting evidence to establish the sequence of events and any connection between the two victims.
  • Chief Brian O’Hara called the killing a heartbreaking act of violence and said investigators are working urgently to identify everyone responsible.
