16-Year-Old Driver Arrested After Rollover Kills Teen in Fond du Lac County
A crash reconstruction will determine whether impairment caused the SUV to leave the road.
Overview
- An SUV failed to negotiate a curve Saturday evening on W1951 Highway HH, struck a culvert and utility pole, went airborne and rolled, and a 16-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The 16-year-old female driver from Sheboygan was arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
- Five other teens aged 14 to 16 were in the vehicle and received medical attention, with patients taken to St. Agnes Hospital, Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, and St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan and at least one flown by helicopter.
- The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deployed its Crash Reconstruction Team and closed Highway HH for about five hours while investigators processed evidence at the scene.
- Investigators are continuing evidence processing and awaiting toxicology results that could change charges, and officials are withholding victims’ names until family members are notified.
