16-Year-Old Arrested in String of DoorDash Driver Robberies Near Slidell

Sheriff’s detectives say the juvenile placed unpaid DoorDash orders to lure drivers then took deliveries by force.

Overview

  • Investigators with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office identified and arrested the unnamed 16-year-old after a late Saturday-night pizza delivery theft that led to custody on Sunday morning.
  • The juvenile was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on three counts of simple robbery, one count of first-degree robbery and one count of attempted simple robbery.
  • Detectives from the sheriff’s Persons Crimes Unit worked with patrol deputies to link a series of incidents in the Lakeshore Villages area and identify the suspect.
  • Authorities say the suspect’s method was to place DoorDash orders without prepaying, wait for drivers to arrive, then confront them and seize the food before fleeing.
  • The arrests highlight a recurring safety risk for app-based delivery workers who can be lured to locations by unpaid orders and who may face confrontations when they arrive.
