15-Year-Old Arrested After Alleged Rape of 17-Year-Old in Grantham

Lincolnshire Police have opened Operation Muscovy to build a case through forensic work, witness accounts and footage.

Overview

  • Police received a report just after 3am on Sunday 14 June that a 17-year-old woman had been raped about 30 minutes earlier near Earlesfield Lane and Thames Road in Grantham.
  • A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently in police custody while enquiries continue.
  • Investigators have designated the inquiry Operation Muscovy and are carrying out forensic searches and structured enquiries in the local area.
  • Officers are asking anyone who was in the area between 00:30 and 03:00 on 14 June or who has CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact Lincolnshire Police via 101 or email force.control@lincs.police.uk and quote Operation Muscovy.
  • Given the ages involved, the case will follow youth safeguarding and legal procedures, and residents should expect increased patrols and further evidence-gathering activity in the coming days.
