Overview
- CAME reported that 1,440,120 people traveled across Argentina during the May 23–25 holiday and generated an estimated direct economic impact of $339.880 billion in food, lodging, transport and recreation.
- The average stay was 2.1 nights and daily spending rose to $112,385 per person, an 18% real increase versus the last comparable 25 May in 2023, while total spending was 9.9% lower because this holiday was one day shorter.
- Aerolíneas Argentinas recorded more than 147,000 flight reservations for the weekend, including over 115,000 domestic bookings, signaling a strong rebound in internal air travel demand.
- Events and local attractions drove most trips: finals, concerts, regional food festivals and auto competitions concentrated visitors in Córdoba, Salta, Mendoza, San Juan and nature hubs like Iguazú and Bariloche.
- Official INDEC data for April show a 13.2% drop in Argentines traveling abroad, and CAME says the May holiday was the third-biggest of five long weekends so far in 2026, with the five breaks moving 9.38 million tourists and about $2.62 trillion in spending.
