14-Year-Old Killed by BMW on North Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach

Police are reconstructing the June 12 collision to determine whether speed was a factor as neighbors press for safety upgrades

Overview

  • The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. on June 12 in the 4600 block of North Congress Avenue when 14-year-old Christopher Cetoute was struck while crossing eastbound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Investigators say the striking vehicle was a BMW M4 driven by a 35-year-old and that the car appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the teen.
  • All involved individuals remained at the scene and the Boynton Beach Police Department has launched an active reconstruction of the collision while asking the public to provide any information.
  • No charges have been announced so far and detectives continue to gather evidence to determine contributing factors such as speed and crossing location.
  • Friends and neighbors have created a memorial and planned a vigil for Christopher, and residents who say Congress Avenue has seen repeated crashes are calling on officials for traffic-safety changes and enforcement.
