1-Year-Old Dies After Being Left in Car in East Windsor

Investigators say evidence collection could lead to further charges as they execute search warrants

Overview

  • A 1-year-old boy left alone in a parked vehicle was found unresponsive on Saturday and was pronounced dead after being taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Hospital.
  • The child's father, 47-year-old Kevin Pell, told investigators he left the boy in the car while he was working and said the child had fallen asleep and the vehicle’s air conditioning was on.
  • First responders administered aid at the scene and the child was transported to the hospital where physicians pronounced him dead at 3:17 p.m.
  • Pell was arrested and charged with risking the injury of a minor and is being held on a $1 million bond.
  • East Windsor detectives are seeking search warrants, canvassing the area and conducting interviews at 153 Rockville Road, a property local reports say Pell owns through Pell Strawberries Holdings, and investigators say additional charges could follow.
